Our History

Founded in 1992 in Rotterdam, Atlantic Schepen began as a small terminal operation serving the local petrochemical industry. Recognizing the growing demand for specialized storage solutions, we expanded our services and facilities throughout the 1990s, establishing ourselves as a reliable partner for major oil and chemical companies.

The early 2000s marked a period of significant growth, with strategic acquisitions and new terminal constructions in key global locations. Our expansion into Asia with the Singapore terminal in 2005 and subsequent development of facilities in the Middle East and Americas solidified our position as a truly global operator.

Today, Atlantic Schepen operates 12 major terminals across four continents, managing over 5 million cubic meters of storage capacity. Our continuous investment in technology and sustainability initiatives ensures we remain at the forefront of industry innovation.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

As responsible operators in the energy sector, we recognize our obligation to minimize environmental impact while supporting the global transition to cleaner energy. Our sustainability initiatives focus on three key areas: operational efficiency, emissions reduction, and community engagement.

We've implemented advanced vapor recovery systems, solar power installations at several facilities, and comprehensive spill prevention measures. Our terminals are designed with environmental protection as a primary consideration, featuring double-walled tanks, sophisticated leak detection systems, and extensive containment capabilities.

Looking forward, we're investing in research for biofuel storage solutions and exploring partnerships to support the emerging hydrogen economy, ensuring our infrastructure remains relevant and valuable in a changing energy landscape.
